Jordan Otis and Ethan McGrath kick off the new Lookout Valley Art Song Series
About this Event
Mezzo-soprano Jordan Otis will sing a selection of new songs by Chattanooga composer Ethan McGrath, as well as a set of eight songs by John Alden Carpenter (1876-1951), an American composer who is fairly underappreciated today, but who blended diverse influences such as German romanticism, French impressionism, and jazz to create disarmingly beautiful songs in a style all his own—a style which, incidentally, has influenced the music of Ethan McGrath.
This recital will take place in the ornate chapel/recital hall in the home of Jim Bailiff and will be followed by a reception, during which attendees will have the chance to mingle with the artists. Tickets must be booked in advance, as there is limited space.
This is the first of six events that comprise the Lookout Valley Art Song Series. For full details on other events in the series and information on how to buy subscription tickets, visit www.ethanmcgrath.com/artsong.
